Google Drive in trouble: A bunch of users' data has mysteriously disappeared

Some users of the Google Drive service are reporting the loss of data, which has been stored for months, and it seems that this is not the only Google application affected by the problem.

Google Drive in trouble

When it comes to online data storage, Google Drive is among the most popular solutions. It's free and offers additional upgrades and more storage space for a relatively low price.

However, some users are reporting losing data from the previous few months on the service, and it's possible that this isn't the only Google app affected by the problem.

Users of social networks report that in addition to losing data from Google Drive, they also have problems with the Gmail service.

A user shared his problem on the forums, noting that files from Google Drive suddenly disappeared. Drive returned to normal in May 2023.

The issue is reported to Google's support team, but the user points out that there has been no response from Google engineers and is unable to know if his issue is being investigated.

A Google employee later announced that the issue is investigating. It is also advised not to disable the account, and not to move or delete the app's data folder while engineers are working on the issue.

Meanwhile, at least one user on the Mastodon platform claimed to have seen several cases of people reporting losing some of their Gmail data as well. Another user responded, stating that Gmail had lost and recovered his emails the same day.

Heating oil

Heating oil is any petroleum product or other oil used for heating; a fuel oil. Most commonly, it refers to low viscosity grades of fuel oil used for furnaces or boilers use for home heating and in other buildings. Home heating oil is often abbreviated as HHO. Most heating oil products are chemically very similar to diesel fuel used as motor fuel; motor fuel is typically subject to higher fuel taxes. Many countries add fuel dyes to heating oil, allowing law enforcement to check if a driver is evading fuel taxes. Since 2002, Solvent Yellow 124 has been added as a "Euromarker" in the European Union; untaxed diesel is known as "red diesel" in the United Kingdom. Heating oil is commonly delivered by tank truck to residential, commercial and municipal buildings and stored in above-ground storage tanks ("ASTs") located in the basements, garages,...

Artificial intelligence: Google's new model 'will outperform humans in solving intelligence tests'

Google has launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) model that it claims will "answer questions more carefully" because its "functionalities are more advanced". AI content generators sometimes invent things that developers call hallucinations.  The new Gemini model has been tested to solve problems in 57 areas, including mathematics and the humanities. "This is the new era of artificial intelligence," said Sundar Pichai, head of Google.  Earlier this year, Google launched its own version of the chatbot – Bard – calling it an "experiment".  During the presentation, the program made an error when answering the space question.  Google claims that the new model is "the most capable" and will outperform humans in solving intelligence tests.  Gemini can recognize image, text and sound, but it is not a product in itself.  It is a program that will be integrated into existing Google tools, including search, but also into the Bard...

Oil prices rose above $75, with US stocks in focus

Oil prices rose above $75 in international markets on Friday, boosted by signs of a strengthening US economy and a sharp drop in inventories ahead of further supply cuts from Saudi Arabia.  On the London market, the price of a barrel for delivery in September was 82 cents higher in the afternoon than at the close of trading yesterday and amounted to $75.33. Barrels for August delivery traded 52 cents higher at $74.86. On the American market, the price of a barrel increased by 86 cents, to 70.72 dollars.  Traders were encouraged by slightly increased estimates of US economic growth in the first quarter and a sharp fall in inventories last week, by as much as 9.6 million barrels.  The US economy grew by 1.8% in the first quarter, according to the Commerce Department, compared to the same period last year, 0.2 percentage points stronger than previous estimates showed. At the end of 2022, it increased by 0.9 percent.  Prices were also supported by Saudi Arabia's an...
